August 10 - Home!

Woohoo! We left St. Luke's a little before noon today. All tests were "normal," and all the therapists said she was ready to go. We missed out on Ghurtie's, as Linda was eager to get back home, but we plan to make it there tomorrow or soon. They reminded her several times that she is not to drive yet. Her response: "Duh! Would you want me on the road?"

She was anxious to sit in her recliner and get the cat up in her lap. It took him a while to warm up to her (he still howls at her), but eventually, he lowered himself to let her pet him on her lap,

Between visits and phone calls from family and friends, we went over Linda's medication and got that all set up. Not much in the way of new medication.

Linda is getting around the house quite well--the therapists feel she might want to use a walker for a few days, but as soon as she feels comfortable, she can walk unaided.

Linda's therapy will continue on an out-patient basis at Progressive Rehab in the Mercy Medical Plaza, Iowa City. We have appointments with her surgeon, her family doctor and the neuro-opthalmologist.

  2. Talked to my parents this morning and learned what you having been dealing with these past weeks. What an indoctrination into a life you could only attempt to imagine before, and what a great idea for you to journal Linda's road to recovery. Thanks for the opportunity to share some in the support.

Love to hear Linda's spirit and attitude reflected in your writing. I'll be checking in.
